The visitor centre is currently undergoing partial demolition and major refurbishment. Tours will restart from a temporary building located in our car park from 1st April to the end of September 2019. Please note that there will be no catering facilities within the temp build, however there are many catering establishments within the village.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:
First Hydro Safety Procedures require that all visitors wear Safety Helmets on the underground tour. These helmets are not suitable for use by babies and young children, we therefore cannot allow any children under the age of 4 years on the tours.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL VISITORS MUST BE ABLE TO GET ON AND OFF THE TOUR BUS IN DESIGNATED AREAS. NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STAY ON THE BUS WHILE THE TOUR PARTY ARE IN MOTION.
Your journey of discovery starts aboard our tour bus where we begin the descent through the labyrinth of dark tunnels to the heart of Elidir Mountain where you are set to experience one of man’s greatest engineering achievements. Following one of our friendly experts you will have the opportunity to see first-hand what makes Electric Mountain unique. Tours last approximately 1 hour.
Please note that you MUST check in at the tour desk 15 minutes prior to your allocated tour time to collect your physical tickets and go through important security information.

Unfortunately, for security reasons, we cannot allow any bags, handbags, cameras or mobile phones into the power station and you will be asked to leave your belongings in our coin operated lockers before being taken on one of our tour buses into the underground hydro electric power station.
If wheelchair access is required, please contact us direct on 01286 873030 to ensure availability. Please note that our tour buses can only accommodate wheelchairs up to a maximum length of 75cm and 75cm in width (only one wheelchair permitted per tour).
As visitors are entering an industrial site, suitable footwear must be worn, specifically no flip flops, sandals, open toes or high heels.

Anyone suffering from claustrophobia may suffer some discomfort while underground and they are advised not to take the tour.
PLEASE NOTE: You will be visiting a working power station and on rare occasions, management reserve the right to delay or postpone tours without advanced notice.
• From the Electric Mountain Centre a tour bus will transport visitors underground to the power station.
• From the main inlet valve gallery, you can then witness Dinorwig's massive pump/turbines in action.
• From the viewing gallery an underground film show explains the building and commissioning of the Power Station.
• The bus then takes you up to the surface and then back to Electric Mountain.
